25 January 2017

25 January 2017

I woke up early due mostly to the construction being done in the apartment above my room.I worked for an hour and a half and produced 1390 words on a reflection piece.

Yolanda came over and we had a late breakfast. We decided to go walking near the Goethe Institut. We stopped by one of her favorite coffee shops. That area has a lot of foreigners and has totally embraced the hipster style. The coffee shop definitely had a superior attitude. It was funny because they automatically started speaking to Yolanda in English. They kept it up until we went to pay and they asked where she was from and that her accent was so good for only being here a year. Then we broke the news that we are actually Mexican citizens. Yes, our situation is very confusing to many people.

The Goethe Institut has a library that Yo wanted to show me, but it was closed. We then walked to an Art Library. It seems like different art collections combined their libraries in order to make it all available to the public. You can’t take the books outside of the library, but you can sit and read them as long as you want. I will definitely be returning there. Yo and I sat there reading for quite a while. I read an interesting called Typograph Journal.

Then we walked by another couple of shops that Yolanda likes including a Japanese store that has Mochi cakes that we always would get on our outings in Denver, so good! We made our way to the neighborhood of the apartment to drop by Walmart and the bank for a few things. We grabbed some Cena (supper) at one of their favorite places.

Overall it was a great day with my sister and an orientation to the area.
