Always behind! In order to save myself the time and effort, I will try and just sum things up.
28 February, and 1 March
I got to celebrate my birthday with my grandparents, my Mom, my aunt Lili, and my uncle Chucho in Morelia. My mom and I got to have some great quality time. I was so glad I was able to celebrate with her.
2 March
I headed out from Morelia and took a bus to Mexico City. In reality the bus is very easy to go back and forth. It took almost exactly 4 hours and the country is so beautiful I felt like it went by very fast. I then had to get back to Marisa’s apartment and drop some things off there and then head out to meet Yolanda at her apartment and then immediately headed out to get to our writing class down south. I spent so much time sitting in a vehicle.
Our class is going to be challenging. It is an academic writing class. We spent the first class examining essay abstracts and what they should contain. After class, we met a couple who are Yo’s friends because they live near where the class is. I have already met them a couple of times and they are great! We stayed out a bit too late, for needing to take a test the next day.
3 March
We left early to go to CEPE to get me registered for the classes. It was kind of a bad start because we encountered another small man with a big ego. The account arbitrarily decided that he wouldn’t accept my official Mexican ID as proof that I was a Mexican to get the Mexican discount. It cuts the cost of the class down to a fraction of the total cost, which is what made it possible for me to take these classes. There’s a lot more, but basically it worked out in the end. I took an oral and a written exam and they placed me in level 5 in a program that goes from 0 to 8.
It took all day to get me registered and Yo and I relaxed once we got home.
4 and 5 March
We slept in and then had dinner with my Aunt Marisa to celebrate our birthdays. Then Yolanda and Saniego surprised me and took me to a Harry Potter themed bar to continue the celebration! It was so much fun!
6 March
I started class today. I have two classes each day except Friday. On MWF from 9 to 12, I have my spanish foundations class. On MW from 12 to 13:30 I have another Redacción class (writing). On TTH I have class from 9 to 11 and a narration class from 11 to 12:30. I am glad that I am done early everyday. It really is pretty easy to get to. One thing that I hadn’t realized is that the program is actually very large. It is an entire school with a lot more students than I had realized. I think it will be really good. But I’ll elaborate another time.
