This morning we went to an antiques market because Saniego had some things he wanted to sell. He has made friends with a vender who agreed to put out these things for Saniego. We walked around the market for a long time then went to get Tamales de Oaxaca. They were wrapped in a plantain leaf instead of the corn husk and they were flat, not rounded.
Then Yolanda and I went to another market near Palacio de Las Bellas Artes, a center for the arts in Mexico City. We walked to an indoor market that had a bunch of fancy “concept stores” that were only things made in Mexico but were very expensive. Outside they had a big screen set up and were showing a recording of the National Symphony. We sat there a while until we met up with Saniego and stopped at the Japanese market. Basically we walked and ate all day. I finally made it back to the apartment and was able to actually catch up with Marisa since she has been in Puebla all week. She gave me a few assignments to read in Spanish to brush up along with her ginormous Spanish/English dictionary. I'll get whipped into shape here!
