This was primarily a work day with a nice walk in the park. There was a big single rose that I took a picture of on my walk.

Yolanda and I decided that Tuesdays will be our day to hang out since Saniego has an online class that he has to video in to. We went to Coyoacán to have breakfast with our Tía Julietta. It was a lovely time and we were there for quite a few hours. We walked her back to her house and office and stayed there for a little bit to chat.
From there, Yolanda and I walked around Coyoacán until we found a nice cafe to eat lunch at, and then we set ourselves up at a coffeeshop to do some work at. It was a great Valentine’s Day with my big sis.
We then took a smaller bus (a pesero) to go back up north. The streets were really busy, we supposed for the holiday. The bus got stopped by the federal transportation department and was deemed as not suitable for public transportation. (Ah México lindo). They told us that the would get us on the next bus that came by, but no bus came because all the drivers warned each other to avoid that stop because of the transportation authority check point. We ended up just walking home from that point.

Yolanda and I headed south again to register for a writing class that will be on Thursday evenings. We met at the MetroBus and took it down to the region of the University. We walked to the office where we understood we could register. Each building has a security guard that will direct you to the appropriate office. As soon as he walked in, this little man got on a power trip. With full condescension, he said, “oh no, this is the building for a very intense translation program that is very high level learning. You need to go to another building.” I got a bit angry at his reaction to us. He immediately wrote us off and got on his soap box. Without letting us explain why exactly we were there, he just brushed us aside and did not even let us step into the building.
Therefore, we made our way to this other building about half a mile away where they did let us into the office and where they told us that, no, we did need to go to the first building to sign up for this class. So we then made our way back to the first building, fuming a bit. I was so ready to put up a fight to at least ask someone who would listen to us. We walked in again and Yolanda was much nicer than I was prepared to be. Eventually he let us in saying that “oh you didn’t properly explain.” He then went into the office and made us wait outside while he told the office people, who knows what. Whatever.
Turns out we had to fill out a registration, then go to the bank and then come back with the receipt from the bank that we paid. On our way out, I got really dizzy. I don’t know why, but I think my blood pressure just got low for some reason, so I was kind of out of it. But apparently, I needed to make sure that I was sufficiently out of it. As we were walking to the bank, I was looking down to make sure I didn’t trip on the uneven sidewalk and I didn’t see a window grate at eye level and I completely whacked the right side of my face. I may have a lovely bruise above my eye tomorrow and I got a cut on my eyebrow. :(
We waited at the busy bank while I tended to my wound haha. Then the office was closed for the meal break and we had a chance to eat some lunch we brought. We then went to the office with the little man. He then went on some misogynist rant that we looked like we were in a better mood since we had eaten and then, honest to goodness, he said something about it being good for our hormones. I was furious and also bothered that I had a big welt on my head haha. But anyways, we finally got registered for this class.
We then met up with two of Yolanda’s friends for a beer. They are really wonderful! It was great to socialize with someone who isn’t family too. Laura is american, but grew up in Coyoacan. I really enjoyed talking to Laura and Greg. They showed us their favorite tacos place and we got a yummy plate. Yolanda and I for sure found the spot when we are in a pinch for our evening class.
